"The memory was still present, its images fresh from the vortex of life, still brimming with static energy waiting to be extinguished by dementia. The air was stale, I inhaled deeply. I remembered the agent's own words: "left button will signal the agent to assassinate Fidel Castro. Right button will signal our man to take you out." All right, it's done. "Are you sure you want to do this Mr. President?" a woman asked. "I'll just reincarnate someplace else," I said. ... Then the car moved by the Secret Service man, who I waved down from the aisle. This historical-fiction novel written in 1992 chronicles the lives of late 18th Dynasty Egypt, those of Tutankhamun and his wife, Queen Ankhesenamun.

An Excerpt:

Commander Horemhab sat anxiously and impatiently on the floor of his chariot, waiting for an answer. The royal troops had aligned the entrance of the Nubian camp and several scouts were patrolling in and out of the enemy head-quarters, looking for their leader. A single chariot of Nubian craftsmanship, originally stolen from Egyptian garrisons and modified to meet their standards, shifted the desert sands behind it as the chariot entered through an unprotected gap in the Egyptian wall of horses. A proud announcement saluted the commander from afar, and this caused him to rise from his seat. It was Tutankhamon. Excited, Horemhab shouted to the sky in adoration of the god Horus, relieved that his prayers had been answered. Horemhab exalted his comrades over the news. Ay was the first to respond.
"It couldn't be him; that charioteer looks nothing like Tutankhamon." Tut removed his wig and Ay looked closer.
"Oh my god."

In 2010 my College History Professor  John E. Morby, Ph.D.  passed away; his son also died a few months earlier from Alcohol related issues.  I last wrote to him in 2009 when I gave him a copy of Tutianity (a religion based on Tutankhamon), and this was during the fan fare of Tutankhamon's American tours in USA (Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit).  

I first met Dr. Morby during a storm at California State University Hayward  in 1994 (CSU East Bay).  He had read my first novel - Eye of the Pharaoh - which was selling (illegally plagiarized by the reviewer from that University) then.  I took 2 of his classes, one from Egyptian History and another in World History, both were electives.  We exchanged letters after College. Dr. Morby visited Egypt many times, and he had slides from his vacations there.  He specialized in Historical Chronology and wrote a "Kings List" type book as a study aid to his classes.  This book is out of print currently.  I dedicated several of my later novels to him; he read a number of my publications.  

John visited Egypt before the Revolution of January 2011, and was concerned about an "Islamic Extremist Occupation of Egypt" many times in his letters.  This as you know was the Administration of Pres. Morsi of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood that was recently deposed.  He would have been deeply upset by the vandalism in Egypt during 2011.  So I suppose it was his destiny to leave Earth before 2011.  He met Dr. Zahi Hawass in Egypt once, and did not like him or the misinformation he was given by Dr. Hawass about entrance into certain Pyramids there.

Author Bio

Michael J. Costa is a native of California, and started writing at age 16 when he wrote his first Sci-Fi novel. Michael's novel, The Flawed Emerald (Eye of the Pharaoh, c.1990), was used as Research Source Material for Dr. Zahi Hawass of Egypt, who based several of his ideas or discoveries on; content also appeared in the film, The Mummy Returns.   Michael is still alive despite a rumor circulating in Hollywood from 1994.

Michael is a member of the American Research Center in Egypt. He is a life member of the California State University system, where he founded the John E. Morby Book Award for World History Students in 2011, in memory of his College Professor, who authored Dynasties of the World - a Historical Chronology.

Welcome to my Blog...

I am an Author, Archaeologist (B.A. in Archaeology & Biological Anthropology, '99), Egyptian Afterlife Priest (Kheri-Heb) & a Pharaoh of Duat, visual artist, Micronationalist, and computer game modifier. I have written over 60+ books so far. My books are my paper monuments. I hope you enjoy them. I also made computer game "Mods" for the computer game, The Elder Scrolls-V: Skyrim, on Steam Workshop (2012-2014).

I believe in reincarnation to comprehend future actions as based on past life actions, and direction in one's life. I believe my past life visits to Egypt influence and inspire me with their culture. My first publisher was a Psychologist at CSU Hayward/East Bay in California; she believed my fictional first novel was about real information, as did the US Government and NSA/CIA. I researched Ancient Egypt prior to writing Eye of the Pharaoh (c.1990, 1995), I had read about 12 non-fiction books for that project. Content appears in the film, The Mummy Returns.
