Mummy tar?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-8343145/Mysterious-black-goo-used-Ancient-Egyptians-cover-coffins-identified-British-Museum.html

Mysterious 'black goo' used by Ancient Egyptians to cover wooden coffins and mummy cases of 'social elites' was made from a mixture of animal fat, tree resin, beeswax and crude oil from the Dead Sea.

This is proof the Ancient Egyptians' skin was not naturally opaque after they were buried in their tombs.  The viscous black tar was an adhesive for bandages / mummy wrappings.  It also deters the false belief the Egyptians were ethnically from Africa based only on their skin color.  Tutankhamon's mummy for example was covered in this stuff.  It was probably used as a sealant or to prevent termites.
