The 23rd Dynasty of Ancient Egypt had a person who started out as a Queen, later becoming the King or "Lord of the 2 Lands." Her name was KA-SH-TA. (Suten = King).
The surname Costa may have its origins with this Queen. My Y-Chromosome containing "North African / Middle Eastern DNA" (i.e. from Ancient Egypt) is from the paternal lineage (though I also have Costa in my maternal lineage, from a different country as COSTA means "Coastal" in both languages). The Egyptian spelling of KASHTA means "Spirit of Water and Land." Coastal means "land alongside water." This is the same definition! 23rd Dynasty had Native rulers.
The name KASHTA also appears in the 25th Dynasty (Kushite), as Nymaara Kashta. This doesn't mean the original name is Kushite, but it does mean it is of native Egyptian origin as names are reused by others. As far as being a Queen - the name above lacks male attrition such as Horus Names or Son of Ra names. Nymaara Kashta was of 767-753 BCE*.
