Building the Great Pyramid of Giza:
by Mike Costa, Copyright 2021:
The Great Pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops) was built in Stages, based on life expectancy of the King and available resources such as types of necessary Stone, wood, copper, and workers. Work was built during Flood Season to prevent Idleness and Crime. Idle Workers would cause Civil Unrest and problems in Egyptian society. This is why such large grandiose monuments were built.
The first stage was the basic tomb and superstructure or small Pyramid. Future construction was simply "tacked on" or extended on the basic Pyramid -- it did not "start out big" as most Egyptologists currently believe.
The second stage was the "Queen's Chamber" with directional skylights for positioning the blocks and for Oxygen in the tomb for the workers. No Queen was ever buried in there as they had their own Pyramids. Egyptologists just call it that.
The third stage had the Grand Gallery and relieving chambers above to lessen the burden on the vault. This resembles a Djed Pillar. Voids were built to relieve the pressure on the internal passages. Skylights were added for positioning the blocks and for Oxygen. (Skylights helped the overseer to give orders to the workers inside).
Limestone casing was added to reflect sunlight like a refrigerator, trapping water inside when there was rain. This kept the interior cool in the Desert Sun. A Gold capstone was added to reflect sunlight like a Desert Beacon or Lighthouse. Some stones were connected with wooden plugs.
