Maybe, and possibly Tut's tomb is larger than originally expected?
My Theory:
KV62 was originally built for King Ankhkheperura Smenkhkara as a large tomb complex. His tomb was violated during Tutankhamon's reign (age 10?), so his remains were moved elsewhere (KV55). Queen Nefertiti was buried there - her Pink Rose Quartzite Sarcophagus was in the Burial Chamber, with possibly her daughters in the rest of the tomb. She was violated, and contents were moved to KV40. Queen Ankhesenamon's family is buried there after Nefertiti moved out. Tut was buried in his first tomb (elsewhere) until it was violated, so he was moved into KV62 and the wall was erected to separate Ankhesenamon's burial from Tutankhamon's. Tut's items seem "hurried" because of this reburial -- his mummy is charred black and his chest is missing because his original tomb was violated by thieves or vandals (his mummy was torched after they removed his chest looking for an expensive heart scarab amulet and other jewels, using heated knives; this was standard practice for tomb robbers, to prevent the mummy from attacking them). The tomb was robbed later during Horemhab's reign, after "King Ay" (Tut impersonation). Tut's mummy was later rewrapped with extra perfumed oils dumped on top as compensation. As General Horemhab was the Crown Prince (designated heir), why would he allow Vizier Ay to be King, unless this was actually Tut impersonating Ay as "King Ay"? Especially since Tut's Queen Ankhesenamon was discovered (by Tut) sending treasonous letters to the Hittite King, asking him for a son to marry and become Pharaoh. So Tut remains married to Ankh as "King Ay" and has this false image of Ay at his funeral, covering up Ankh's tomb in KV62. (Tut was King from age 5-15 then King again from 15-19 years, if he died at 19, according to Wine dockets). If radar scans find this tomorrow perhaps the mystery will be solved?
